I'll come as the Trojan Rabbit

...or maybe just a rabbit wearing a Trojan.

Our local movie theatre is kicking off a participatory-cinema series with Quote-Along Monty Python and the Holy Grail. I can hardly wait. And OK, I'm not so hard-core that I know all the lyrics to "Brave Sir Robin", but I do sort of adore this film. Plus the spouse is seriously gung ho! So, sounds like a date.

Here's the write-up:

Grab your coconuts and travel along with King Arthur's fearless Knights of the Round Table on their silly adventure. Prizes for costumes, and bevvies served at the concession stand. Answer our questions three on Saturday, December 10th.

So. Any ideas what I (we) should wear? Seriously I'm kind of leaning towards a minimalist witch hat and a small paper cone over the nose ... but I'm up for other suggestions.

Hit me!

ETA: If I had a cat, and the cat liked Monty Python too, it could wear this.

I used to have most of the movie memorised, too. Not so sure I could manage it now, but huge gobbets of the script are still engraved in my grey matter.

Suddenly I have a craving to get some special buttons made. Such as:

- I'm not a witch, I'm not a witch!
- Alsø alsø wik
- What, the curtains?
- That's no ordinary rabbit!
- A møøse once bit my sister...
- Blue. No, green. AAAUGH!

Yeah. I guess I'm starting early.

(Really I want to go as Tim, but cool hornèd helmets are hard to find hereabouts.)

Ack! Ack! AAAACK!!!! *desperately wants*

Hmm. The movie's on December 10, it's currently November 26, I'm in Canada, shipper's in the States, it ships in 2-6 business days... erm, unlikely to arrive in time. Maybe I'll buy it for the next time they put it on <3333

Seriously though? If I had the time and money and talent (and inclination) to make my own costume, I would dress up as an African swallow. How cool would that be?

Or maybe a coconut on legs. *remembers To Kill a Mockingbird, "Po-ORK!", etc.* ...Or maybe not.

Or -- I could go as the CURTAINS <3333

Sorry, now I'm just being silly. *mumbles to self* Stop it, stop it...

I think it's even cheaper from Amazon.. well, US Amazon, I don't know about Canadian Amazon.

Silly? I have nothing to do with silly. *whistles*

I'm not a witch, I'm NOT a witch!

[identity profile] chamekke.livejournal.com 2011-11-27 05:30 am (UTC)(link)
Hmm, now that's a possibility. *looks up*

OK, Amazon Canada is as usually COMPLETELY useless, but Amazon US will ship to me in Canada. I can have it in time only if it's shipped via Priority International Courier. Item is $19.99, shipping & handling $21.59, import fees deposit $2.47... order total $44.05.

Err... *looks shifty* Maybe I'll go with the paper nose. *is responsible adult miserly*

Well that's utterly bloody ridiculous... and your original costume idea is a really good one. *g*

Do you have a local large chain toy shop or a comic book shop? I've seen the Tim the Enchanter helmet in both of them before.

*cheers up* Well, I know a comic book shop that sells the plush Killer Rabbit, heh. Maybe I'll go take a look tomorrow. (Although with this event coming up, they could well be sold out!) But we don't own a car, so getting out to the megastores is always a bit of a challenge. *ponders*

Meh, who am I kidding. I'll probably just go as Not a Witch. And my husband can go as Famous Historian! He's not famous, but he is a historian, so that's close enough <333

I really do like the Not a Witch idea and of course the historian works. Perhaps he could hang a famous sign around his neck. *g*

Guess what, he's very keen indeed on this idea! Especially the sign bit, as he doesn't actually own a tie and shirt collar like the real Famous Historian's.

It's perfect, actually, as he is an Historian and I am Not a Witch.

Then it's definitely a plan.

... and we wouldn't mind you know, as you'd only use your powers for good. *g*

Of course I would!
