Thanks, Sev! I'm glad you enjoyed the ambiguity. And you know, I did strive to keep the ambiguity there precisely because *I* prefer to leave the question open, too, for the reader and for myself.

Rereading what I wrote above, I now realise that although I started out with the premise that Sam was in 1950 all along, I held on less and less tightly to it as the story progressed; because as I wrote I discovered that there was no doubt in my mind that Sam experienced 1973, he really did, and he'll relive it all over again in another 23 years' time.

But -- I wanted to leave open the possibility that maybe he hadn't, and he wouldn't? Because I'm mean that way >:-D

I loved how your fic here took one of the hidden strengths of 2.08 and really made it sing with all the lively uncertainty that I really enjoy in LoM.

THANK YOU <333 *hugs tightly* You see, that's the thing about the Morgan storyline and the Project MARS thing? Most fans either ignore it, OR they rationalize it per A2A into some ghastly, simplistic (can you tell I'm judgmental about this) Morgan-was-The-Devil/Keats-in-disguise thing. The latter is the one that really tears my heart apart; it takes all those lovely ambiguous loose ends and drops them unceremoniously into a big smelly trashcan of Manichean WTF.*

And there's so much narrative yumminess to be mined there, I CAN'T EVEN. So, yeah, like you I have a sneaking affection for the "irrelevant" Morgan/Williams stuff in 2.08. Used wisely, it can benefit humanity.

And seriously, you're welcome to ramble from your soapbox all you like, since as you can see I'll do likewise at the drop of a hat. Except that your soapbox rambles are much more fun to read!

*ETA: Just thought of a couple of stories that took this idea and exploited it BRILLIANTLY. So, yeah — while I'm not thrilled with the whole Gene-as-psychopomp, Keats/Morgan-as-Devil conceit, there are exceptions that prove every rule :-D
