(...Assuming there's at least one on my f'list ;-)

Can you kindly point me to any fic-oriented Sherlock Holmes comms that are ACD-friendly? And/or canon-focused?

I have a sudden yearning to write a Study in Scarlet-based fic based on a plot bunny I hatched several decades years ago.

Mind you, it will involve digging out my copy of The Haymarket Tragedy, which: eep! *looks at unlabelled stack of book cartons with a sudden qualm*

Start here: http://www.excessant.com/HI/index.htm

"Sites of interest" has a list of most ACD-friendly sites. I think the best-known is Cox and Co, but there may be more recent ones.

And may I point out my favorite comic: http://www.excessant.com/HI/gallery/elina_katri/dwim.htm

Good luck with the rewriting!

Ooh, wonderful! I'm off to tea class shortly so I can't explore those sites quite yet, but I'll look this afternoon. This looks excellent.

(I did take a peek at the comic site, though, and — GNNK!!1! :-)

Thank you ♥

There are a few comm links at this liquidfic page (scroll down), but I'm not sure how active/alive any of them are.

http://liquidfic.org/Holmes_Watson.html

Ooh yearnings. Feed them, feed them.

Thank you so much! I'll investigate them for sure.

(Last night I found a fabulous ACD-canon comm on LJ but it's been moribund for over a year. Why is it that so many of the best comms are dormant! I'm looking at you, [livejournal.com profile] metafandom.)

P.S. ICON LOVE <333

I think [livejournal.com profile] dispatch_box is probably the most ACD friendly of the Holmes coms on LJ.

There's also cox and co, although they used to have pretty elaborate "members only" sign ups. That may no longer be the case.

I used to write ACD and Granada TV based Holmes stories lo these many moons ago.

And you know I adore that icon, right?

I just checked out [livejournal.com profile] cox_and_co. It looks doable, membership-wise (you should see the hurdles I leaped to join the Bootmakers!) ... but they don't permit gen or het content, they're exclusively slash/femslash/poly. Which, erm, lets me out on this one! Still, it's good to know the comm is there.

It amuses me highly as I can't think of a man less likely to be able to grow that sort of moustache than MGB.

Ah, sorry, I forgot that. It's been ages since I've visited the site.

I think I'm now out of moustaches.

It's not a problem in general, just for this one fic. Which is probably the only canon fic I'll write. But I wouldn't mind reading the comm at all :-)

Here, have some more Litton. You know you want it ;-)

I didn't think it would bother you but you were looking for a site to post a story.

Looking at that icon, it appears Litton wants it. :D

You're not the only one who thinks so ;-)

And, hey! Forgot about Artie from Warehouse 13. And Groucho Marx. And... *points*

Imma gonna stop now.

[livejournal.com profile] dispatch_box looks VERY promising, though. Yay!

*is using this as an excuse to work through all the moustache icons*

*is down to the Litton ones now*

Oh good, now they're a very friendly site as I remember.

And I just realized I have another moustache icon of a sort. :D

I see your Brian Blessed scowl and raise you a Litton snarl.

If your plotbunny whacks Watson at all, you should aim at [livejournal.com profile] watsons_woes. Very ACD friendly! And since it's a Study in Scarlet fic he should still be in fairly bad shape. There's also [livejournal.com profile] mere_appendix for giving Holmes a few bumps and bruises.

There's also a fair bit of canon at AO3, which is one of the places I look for that sort of story.

Thank you! *investigates*, Ooh, these both look brilliant (love the comm names!). If I whump either of the boys, I'll post there for sure... but I'm going to watch these two in any case. Thanks so much ♥

(Haven't really investigated AO3 for canon-based fic yet, but you're right, I mustn't leave that out! Ta!)
